Studio Practice

Material honesty and structural light

A disciplined studio practice founded on hand-ground mineral pigments, raw Belgian linen, and architectural geometry.

Studio Chemistry

Raw linen and ground minerals

Every canvas begins with unbleached flax woven in Courtrai, stretched over custom tulipwood stretchers and sized twice with warm rabbit-skin emulsion. The surface retains microscopic tooth, allowing cold-pressed oils to sink evenly without cracking.

Pigments are sourced directly from historical quarries in Cyprus, the Roussillon basin, and Badakhshan. Grinding with a heavy glass muller yields particle sizes that refract ambient daylight rather than absorbing it.

Artist Statement

A painting is an architectural instrument that reorganizes daylight inside a quiet room.

Color is treated not as ornament, but as weight, mass, and edge. Layers are applied across months, allowing natural oxidation to reveal sub-surface geometry.
